TEN THINGS ABOUT 2016 KCSE
1. A total of 577,253 candidates sat for the
examination at 9,158 centres across the
country. No exams were cancelled.
2. Only 141 candidates attained straight As as
compared to last year's 2636 As and 2014's
3017 As.
3. Only 88,928 students scored between A and
C+ which is the cut-off grade for public
university admission.
4. Of the top 20 students countrywide, 16 are
girls while only 4 are boys.
5. Only Alliance Girls High school and Kenya
High School have maintained their A scores
numbers
6. In accordance to Uhuru Kenyatta's directive,
there will be no more index numbers. There
will be instead a unique personal identifier
assigned to a student to be used at all
educational levels.
7. A staggering 74,810 professionals were
contracted to work on the marking and
compilation. Each exam center was also an ICT
center.
