We as Kenyan Showbiz to succeed something must be done.
Its a high time that every stakeholder in this industry must come out of the shadows and defend the well being of our musicians.
HISTORY
Kenyan music has come from a long way guys. To come up with our own flavour has not been a easy journey. To be ranked in the world is not a joke. This article is an inspiration from many underground and also the established artist. The grievances must be taken in and something to be done. I believe secretary in the docket of youth is keen on this Kenyan music.
PIONEERS
Many musicians have made us proud. They laid the foundation stone to the Kenyan industry. A treatment that we have to and will appreciate their efforts in the distance the industry has reached. They are the type of,'respect your elders,I started singing while others were in diapers.' New artist follow the leaders.
Genge Godfather Nonini bwana Meya. King wa genge Jua Kali eeeh.
Wyre da love child
Colonel Mustapha

Nyota Ndogo

Etc
WE HAVE ENOUGH CONTENT GUYS
Please our music must be at least all over. We don't stick on one idea. Our brains refresh daily. Many artist must deserve a special treatment. Very hardworking to make sure a masterpiece is produced.
MEDIA HOUSES
Of late media houses have failed in their roles. Obviously it is not all of them but more than 90% don't play local Kenyan flavour. Ask even rabbit,he will say the same. We must start an initiative that will see Kenyan music to the next level. A lot of media houses play NAIJA music and a bit of Ghana music followed with South Africa. It is not bad but while most of played music music from those nationalities I mean more than three quarters?
We must review this in the next article.
FANS
Fans where are we?
Do we just pop in the showbiz when we here a foreign artist has just landed in the country?
Why can't we come out in large numbers to support our artist? They speak and sing what thou want and you understand with no difficult.
Talk of massive collabo they have done else where. Don't refuse to pay the little ticket money to attend a performance but manage to pay a lot of cash to the international musicians.
Request local flavour in the charts that are in our local television stations and radio waves.
ARTISTS
Some fans say you are not very active. This is allegation that Kaka sungura denies. Himself he has been in and out of studio. Supplying with more more music with unpredictable content. Also the kansol is doing it. Track after track. Other artist must follow the set examples.
We need to see your cooperation with other local musicians. Let's stuck with each other. Keep the flavour yam yam..
some artists may wonder why they don't get more air play like the others. Some am told that they told go deeper as offering and give some "little" to get their music being played. If you are an artist and you are doing this and you are an artist then you are then killing the good industry.Aim at offering the best and if you have got no relevant skill just quit. Music is a talent or natured profession. music is a real career don't kill it.
spend a lot of time on your project provided the quality you offer is good and out of doubt. Spend those sleepless nights not because of a ready market but for a long stay in the competitive market. As an artist, fans must not predict your next move..be a mastermind and bring something better than your previous that fans don't think of but stick to your brand.
invest invest invest invest. You must use money to get more money. Cheap things have a negative impact on you always. Kenyan musician are behind for one thing they don't use media well. Of late things have gone digital. Big artist release their projects online.
we as fans our televisions were closed and now we have gone digital,we don't depend on TVs or radios for your projects. Just follow the leaders. Finally don't get emotional when you are criticised on media. Take it easy and use it to evaluate your self .However not all critics are good you must be keen on this.

PROMOTERS

RESPECT TO;
Wizkid
Star boy
Davido
PAYSLIP
Yeah.... Here comes a challenge. Artist themselves are masking their ends not to meet. Davido is coming and will be paid more than Ksh 7 million. What happens to Kenya artist??
Who is the most paid?
Sauti Sol sets a higher price than all other artist by asking Ksh 0.5 million. They are followed closely but far by Jaguar who ask a Ksh 0.3 million!!!!!!!
Where are the others????????
Artist don't think of royalities only from MCSK and other platforms. MCSK is not a good body indeed .It is not a transparent body. Am not ashamed to say they don't pay enough. they just sit and brag to say "us."they dont know bila msanii hamna muziki. they are officials because of other people work, musicians.
If they do pay,STL stays and does music abroad, redsan never sticks to Kenya and the last example i will give is Victoria kimani . She came to Kenya, the weather was hostile and she went to look for greener pasture where she is. I bet she is well there. MCSK you have failed terrible and you need to do something on this. foreigners being paid than the host..........it sucks!!!!!!
HATURINGI
We must do it......................................
If all my opinion must be taken to consideration by various stakeholders in the industry then Dubai skyscrapers will be just beneath our knees.
CHALLENGE
An organisation of Kenyan music must be formed to cater the cries of musicians. This will include things like welfares, signing of contracts, royalities and many more.
This is just but a tip of an ice tip $$$
